In light of the fundamental role the civil society plays in reporting illegal or potentially harmful material for children and teenagers, Telefono Azzurro offers a hotline service managed by 114 Childhood Emergency.

One of the main objectives of this service is to provide practical tools able to fight paedophilia, abuse, prostitution exploitation and all of those phenomena seriously damaging to children’s rights. Through the online form, available at http://114.it/segnalazioni/, it is possible to gather and give course to the reports related to this kind of materials found on the Web or in the media. In addition, the 114 Childhood Emergency hotline operators can offer support during reports.

During the reporting process, the hotline operator warns the user not to look for further information about the materials found, even if this could add context to the situation, because, from a legal standpoint, it could be seen as an active search of illegal content.

According to the existing privacy legislation, users can make the report anonymously or can share their personal details. The reported information are forwarded, without prior assessment, to the Centro Nazionale di Contrasto alla Pedo-pornografia Online (C.N.C.P.O.) of the Postal Police, with whom Telefono Azzurro has signed a Protocol of Understanding.
