Telefono Azzurro has a listed a series of practical tips to help boys and girls recognising violent behaviours and the risk they could be facing, how to avoid those risks and identify individual who are more likely to behaviour well towards them
It is always helpful to express your feelings in difficult situations toward those who are upsetting you: let your partner know what you think about how they can best manage your negative emotions like anger and envy. Don’t think you cannot talk about your feelings: if the way you and your partner manage difficult situations is not helpful to you, talk to them. If you discuss together and try and work through responses to difficult behaviour then your relationship will be much more healthier.
Try not to place immediate blame onto your partner, it is best to recognise the strengths they have as well as the short comings so you both can create a healthy and non-violent relationship, based on mutual respect.
Not all the relationships people have are healthy and based on mutual respect. Often social media, your peers, and some adults you may know can sometimes behave in a disrespectful way to you or others. Observe, be positively critical, create your own thoughts and ideas and think about what kind of relationship you wish to have with your partner, what would make you feel happy .
In those cases where you feel at risk through physical and verbal violence from your partner or sexual at risk of abuse from them, you may find it more helpful to involve an adult initially.
